I'm on the bandwagon... it's a peplum!

I pulled out a Cynthia Rowley pattern that I made this summer and decided to make it for the colder days ahead.  It's Simplicity 2215, a sweet and simple sleeveless dress that was a breeze to make.  I have some wool flannel that came in one of those delicious FabricMart bundles.  This seemed like a lovely way to put it to use.

The skirt on this pattern is very full and doesn't seem quite right for flannel so I decided to draft an easy little a-line skirt for it.  I mis-measured and the hips were waaaaaaay tight.  I didn't have enough fabric for a new skirt so I busted out this bias-cut peplum.  I didn't factor in that I'd be layering it over other things so it's a little snug.  I'm pretty proud of the matching plaid lines.

I like a sassy lining so I used this black and white geometric cotton.  There's a dash of spandex in it.  The plastic buttons are from my never ending vintage button stash. (I made the red skirt, too.  I'll post about that in the next day or so.)

  1. Very nice, I like how you cut the peplum on the bias!
