An Easy Peasy Raglan Dress

I am pleasantly surprised with this dress... I really like it!  The design (McCall's 6163) seemed a little dated (possibly the collar?) but since the pattern is simple and flattering I had to get it when it was only a buck.  Then I went and paired it with an ITY polyester jersey knit- something I'd normally never use- it came in one of those bundle assortments from Fabric Mart (I love those bundles with all the randomness!)  The material was super easy to work with and is very forgiving especially using my serger.  I see why folks like sewing with ITY.

I nixed the collar.  I added a couple inches to the hem so it falls in the middle of my knee.  This dress is so comfy it's like wearing pajamas.  What's not to like about that?!  I love the busy print matched with the shirring on the seam along the side of waist... quite flattering I do think myself.  I often work with solids and this is a fun departure without being over the top.  I am digging the raglan sleeves, too.

The neckline isn't perfection, but I'm not trying to win the blue ribbon at the state fair here.

  1. Love the dress. The fabric is lovely - especially as it came in a mystery bundle! Very nice indeed.
